Minutes of the June 21, 2004 Board meeting

Officer Corey Baker of the California Highway Patrol discussed the latest events occurring in Hacienda Heights over the last two months.

Ms. Stephanie Miladin of the Greater LA County Vector Control District gave a presentation on the West Nile Virus activity in our area. It was very informative. More information can be obtained at www.glacvcd.org, or by calling (562) 944-9656.

Ms. Evette Mack, LA County Recreation Services Manager, Steinmetz Park and Senior Center, reviewed the upcoming activities for our area. She was very enthusiastic about the "I Love America" parade being held on Monday, July 5.

Ms. Mai Chu of Hsi Lai Temple discussed their current activities.

Mrs. Barbara Fish, HHIA representative on the Puente Hills Landfill Native Habitat Authority gave a presentation on the 10th Anniversary of the Authority, and commented that the celebration attracted about 250 people.

A letter from Supervisor Don Knabe to HHIA member Bob McClusky was read in which rumors of possible changes at Schabarum Regional Park were placed into perspective and his support of the park remains a top priority.

The Board accepted the resignation from the Board of Directors of Nancy Abbott who has moved to Michigan. She had been serving as Secretary and Program Chair. The Board elected Luis Rodriguez to fill an earlier vacancy. He will be the new chair for the Environmental Improvement Committee. Suggestions for a person to fill the new vacancy were requested.
