Dickie Simmons
of Supervisor Knabe's office reported that the County has received a
petition from property owners affected by the parking of cars for sale
along the frontage road adjacent to Colima Road between Dawnhaven and
Country Canyon. The petition requests that the County investigate limiting
parking in this area to a maximum of two hours. The Department of Public
Works will investigate this request.
The HHIA Board
approved a motion to send a letter objecting to the content of the billboards
along the Pomona Freeway, which advertise the adult clubs in the City
of Industry.
Mike Hughes distributed a recent article from the San Gabriel Valley
Tribune indicating that the San Gabriel Valley Council of Governments
(COG) plans to invite local town councils, including HHIA, to participate
in their meetings in order to have better representation of unincorporated
areas in regional matters. The HHIA Board approved a motion to formally
request participation in COG. It should be noted that the concerns of
HHIA were ignored about three years ago when COG supported a Southern
Califontify the candidates.
There are three incumbent members that are up for re-election and three
openings for new candidates.

of Governments (SCAG) proposal to double-deck the Pomona Freeway in
order to provide additional truck lanes. This new COG proposal will
at least give voice to local concerns regarding these types of issues
Jim Snyder, chair of the 2004 Nominating Committee, reported that the
committee has met and discussed potential candidates to fill the available
openings on the board. The committee has until the next board meeting
in November to ide
Mary Varela, Jeff Yann, Nancy Abbott and Mike continue to meet with
Dr. Vargas, Superintendent of the Hacienda La Puente School District
regarding the acquisition of the vacant land west of Orange Grove School
as a park site using Native Habitat funds.
