Minutes of the November 17, 2003 Board meeting

Officer Joe Zizi of the California Highway Patrol
introduced himself and noted that he has replaced
Officers Calise and Liu as the CHP representatives at
the HHIA meetings. He noted that the CHP has placed
an emphasis on DUI drivers. As a result, arrests have
gone which has driven DUI accidents down.

It was reported that residents living in the
vicinity of the frontage road on the south side of
Colima Road between Dawnhaven and Country Canyon,
have turned in a petition requesting the County to
limit parking along Colima, because of the used cars
parked in this area. Up to 35 cars are parked along
this stretch of Colima during weekends. The County
will conduct a study and consider the adoption of an
ordinance limiting parking in the affect area.

The HHIA Board adopted a resolution accepting the
invitation of the San Gabriel Valley Council of
Governments (COG) to join COG as a nonvoting member.
The Board also approved a motion designating Mike
Williams to serve as delegate, and Mike Hughes to
serve as alternate delegate to represent HHIA at COG.

Jim Snyder reported that the Nominating Committee has
received applications from incumbent board members who
are up for reelection including Charles Norris, Mary
Tang and Mary Varela, and new candidates Tom Chang,
Dennis Hostetler, Scott Martin and Jean Robson. Since
there are more than six candidates, it will be
necessary to hold an election.

The County has begun working on the re-landscaping
project on La Monde Street, Los Altos Drive, Hacienda
Boulevard and Avalo Drive. The project will include
replacing the existing ground cover with a star
jasmine ground cover, and replacing the irrigation
system. The existing trees will remain in place. The
project will be funded with Landscaping District funds
and will be completed within two to three months.
