California Highway
Patrol will assist at the Fourth of July parade, Officer Ben Sotello
advised that CHP is focusing on illegal parking, and that a suspect
is in custody as a result of a fatal accident in South Whittier.
Sheriff's Deputy Brian Sanford announced that residential burglaries
continue to drop, he is working with the schools on truancy problems,
teams will be on patrol looking for fireworks, and introduced a new
deputy, Khasaempanth.
Senator Bob Margett's office spokesman Jim Starkey, discussed budget
issues and Medical issues which are tying up the time of the Senate.
Lots of call being received regarding the call up of the California
National Guard for border duty.
Ombudsman Bud Welch reported that the landscaping crew planted oak trees
behind the Materials Recovery Facility, there were problems with the
hydroseeding and it will be redone. The MRF is up to 235 tons per day.
Discussions are continuing about the proposed access road to Rose Hills.
Mike Hughes observed that some restrictions need to be considered around
neighborhoods to motor cycle access.
Code Enforcement leader Rose Hamilton introduced three of her staff,
Morris Litwack, Denise Hartkins and Bruce Durbin who will be the conditions
check planner and he gave a report on the 120 cases being reviewed.
Fifty-five notices of violations were sent out between May 15 and June
15. Most cases related to canopies, and RV/boats in driveways.
Supervisor's deputy Dickie Simmons announced a meeting of the Regional
Chambers of Commerce, that November 2 will be the Annual Luncheon for
the Public Safety employees, July 26is set for a Community Planning
Meeting at Steinmetz Park, and that September 13, there will be a Town
Hall Meeting at the Hsi Lai Temple.

Robson, Mary Varela, Luis Rodriguez and Mary Tang.
New business: Volunteers are needed for decorating the Fourth of July
HHIA float. Meet at Troy Goodspeed's home at 3:00 PM on July 3.
