Minutes of the December 18, 2006 Board meeting

Motions - The Board approved Mary Tang's cost to attend a luncheon of the Whittier-Hacienda Newcomers Club on December 19, 2006.

Law Enforcement - Deputy Brian Sanford, town sheriff, reviewed past crimes including home invasion robberies (two females convicted and sentenced to 19 years in prison); a motor home violator (parking on surface streets and dumping Grey water down the storm drains). Sgt. Nick Cabrera introduced himself as a new deputy for the area. Sanne Lee asked for more information about the home invasion robberies and was informed by Deputy Davis that surveillance's are being conducted at designated locations and warrants served.

Dr. Hsiao-Ching Chen, COO Liaison for Regional Planning, and representing Dickie Simmons, shared that she was the "go to" person for the department for Hacienda Heights. She has been with the department for seven years. The Pacific Heights development will be resurrected soon (Mike Hughes said that it has already started). The General Plan for the County is being reviewed.

Fahim Rahimi, Project Manager whit the Public Works Department, presented information on three projects dealing with resurfacing and slurry sealing. Work will be in and along multiple streets in the spring of 2007 including Valencia Avenue, 9th Avenue, Gale Avenue - south frontage, Alacorn Drive, Palm Avenue, Los Robles Avenue, Ridley and Turnbull Canyon Road. Congresswoman Napolitano's representative, Brenda McVeeters, dropped off some calendars and sent the Congresswoman's best wishes for the coming year.

Mae Chu spoke about the Hsi Lai Temple's Annual Neighborhood Celebration on January 6, and extended an invitation to all residents to attend.

David Wysocki shared upcoming events at the HH public library.

Ian Phillips, Public Works Department , provided information regarding code enforcement and department staffing changes. He also described the functions of a Nuisance Abatement Team and requested that problem properties should be reported to Tamara McDonald at 626-458-3193.

Committee reports were provided by Sanne Lee, Troy Goodspeed, Lucy Pedregon, Mike Hughes, Jean Robson, Scott Martin and Charles Norris.

Rudy Almeida offered comments about his attendance at meetings and graffiti issues.

Peggy-Smith Casey spoke about the effects of costs against homeowners who were affected by a landslide a few years ago.

President Mike Williams reviewed correspondence he had received.
