HHIA is privileged to participate
with other organizations which contribute significantly to the quality
of life in Hacienda Heights. Some of them are represented below.
Hillside Open Space

Organization which is attempting to maintain the hills for wildlife and
other pro-environmental activities such as hiking and riding trails.
It is also at the forefront of the effort to dissuade developers from
building 3500 homes blocking the Native Habitat Corridor in the Brea-La
Habra area.

This organization is a joint powers agency with a Board of Directors comprised
of representatives from the City of Whittier, County of Los Angeles, the
Sanitation Districts of Los Angeles County, and HHIA. Its purpose is to
acquire, restore and maintain open space in the Puente Hills as permanent
protection for the native habitat.

This joint powers agency is dedicated to saving urban open space in the
Los Angeles basin and particularly to the Puente Chino Hills Wildlife
Corridor. Its Board of Directors is comprised of representatives from
the cities of Brea, Diamond Bar, La Habra Heights and Whittier, Santa
Monica Mountains Conservancy, California State Departments of Parks and
Recreation Inland Empire District, and Fish and Game, County of
Los Angeles, and two public members.

Conservancy, the Conejo Recreation and Parks District, and the Rancho
Simi Recreation and Park District. Its mission is to create and maintain
parkland and preserve open space in the greater Los Angeles area, including
the Los Angeles River and its tributaries.
