The Los Angeles County Fire Department has announced their establishment of a new website - www.la.cofd.org - to provide information to the public about their services and programs.  This is the first of several planned phases to continually improve the site and increase its interactivity and role as a key information focal point during major incidents and disasters.

Community Development Commission, County of Los Angeles, advises homeowners of special Low Interest Home Rehabilitation Loan Program for a variety of home improvement projects.  For information call the Arceneaux DelHomme & Company, at 800-664-1704, or for information regarding other housing programs, call the Commission at 323-890-7239.

The County Department of Parks and Recreation is currently restructuring many parks in the Rowland and Hacienda Heights areas. They are inviting local businesses to get involved in their communities by providing rose bushes or in-kind donations to help beautify and landscape our parks. The ID tax number for these donations is 95-6000-927. For additional information, please call Shannon Campbell, Recreation Services Leader at 626-333-1369 or email shannonlc@co.la.ca.us.

Community Input

HHIA is a conduit for your ideas and suggestions for community improvement. These can include issues that need attention or opportunities that need to be supported. For example, part of the negotiated mitigation of the Puente Hills landfill is a $1.00 per load fee that will go into a fund for the benefit of the surrounding area. Over time, these funds, which could amount to as much as 40% of the total will amount to hundreds of thousands of dollars. They will be overseen by our County Supervisor and will start being available this fall. HHIA needs to submit proposals for their use in our community as soon as possible.

Some ideas that have surfaced already include a community center, more parks and playgrounds, improved landscaping of public areas, additional traffic signs and crosswalks, etc. The funds should be directed to permanent facilities not temporary or transitional activities that may have to be funded later. Please submit you ideas to HHIA’s email address
info@hhia.net.
